Emergency Contraception

$75.00

This is for you if:

  • You’re biologically female and need a prescription of Ella for emergency contraception.

  • It’s been less than 5 days since having unprotected intercourse or condom failure. The sooner the better.

  • You’re not taking Ella because you just missed a dose or took a late dose of your birth control pill/patch/ring/shot. (Both Ella and other hormonal contraceptives interfere with each others efficacy.) Plan B may work better in this situation.

  • You know you weren’t already pregnant before last intercourse.

Please have ready:

  • Photo of your driver’s license/ID card - front only.

  • Photos of your health insurance card - front and back.

  • Your pharmacy information.

  • Your list of meds and supplements.

Pro Tip: You can get Plan B over-the-counter with or without prescription. It’s most effective if taken within 3 days (72 hours), but less effective in general if your BMI is > 25. Plan B is safe during breastfeeding.

Ella is generally more effective at any BMI and has up to a 5 day window (120 hours) to be taken. If breastfeeding, pump and dump for 1 week after taking Ella. With any emergency contraceptive, the sooner you take it, the better it will work.
